USU Holds Legislative Spouses Luncheon in Salt Lake

Utah State University First Lady Joyce Albrecht hosted the first Legislative Spouses Luncheon on the 23rd floor of the Wells Fargo building in Salt Lake City Wednesday, Feb. 22.Following lunch, Albrecht welcomed the guests and thanked them for their support of Utah State over the year, and especially during the van accident that killed 8 students and one instructor. She discussed Utah State’s new Performance Hall and the Caine School of the Arts, which were part of a large display that greeted luncheon guests. Albrecht recognized the support of Kathryn Caine Wanlass and Manon Caine Russell for whom the performance hall is named. The recently named Caine School of the Arts recognizes the support of the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation.

“Utah State has so much to be proud of and much of that comes from the tremendous strength and talent of our students,” Albrecht said. “Utah State is a research institution that provides a complete and quality educational experience for all of our students.”

 

Albrecht also highlighted the addition of a contingent of new students from the Dominican Republic and the recent completion of the Road Scholar Tour. During the tour, Joyce and Stan Albrecht, along with university faculty, staff and students, visited high schools in southeastern Idaho and along the Wasatch Front, sharing Utah State’s message with high school students and community leaders.

 

Following the first lady’s speech, USU students from the Marie Eccles Caine Opera Outreach Ensemble performed a piece, directed by Department of Music faculty member Cindy Dewey, from its touring production of Opera for Children.
