USU Holds Fall String Chamber Music Recital
The Utah State University String Program presents its annual fall concert Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Caine Performance Hall on USU’s Logan campus.
“The string ensembles will present chamber music performances by students in the USU string program,” said Brad Ottesen, assistant professor in the Caine College of the Arts and violist in the Fry Street Quartet. “Students work independently on their chamber music projects for the full semester under the guidance of faculty coaches, the Fry Street Quartet and Utah Symphony principal violist Brant Bayless.”
Additional artistic input comes through master classes by visiting artists who perform in the Chamber Music Society of Logan series, said Ottesen. All students in the string program will perform, showcasing the hours of preparation dedicated to this performance.
“Friday’s program will include string quartets by Mozart, Haydn, Dvorák and Mendelssohn, as well as a piano trio by Shostakovich and a selection of string duos,” said Ottesen.
Tickets for the String Chamber Music recital are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with valid ID.
