USU Holds Annual String Chamber Music Recital

The Utah State University String Program presents its annual fall concert Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall on the Logan campus.

“Students directly experience the results of their dedication, ideas and skills in this performance,” said Rebecca McFaul, Caine College of the Arts string faculty instructor and member of USU’s Fry Street Quartet.

Students in the string program are tutored by the Fry Street Quartet, USU’s resident string group, and the string faculty in the Music Department. All students in the string program will perform, showcasing the hours of preparation dedicated to this performance.

“This year the students also had an opportunity to have a master class with the Emerson String Quartet,” said Bradley Ottesen, assistant professor of professional practice. “This was made possible through the support of the Chamber Music Society of Logan.”

The program will include masterworks by Haydn, Beethoven and Ravel, as well as 20th century music from Bela Bartok and Russian composer Alfred Schnittke.

“As faculty, we’d love to invite everyone to this special evening where every student in the string program has a voice,” said McFaul.

Tickets for the String Chamber Music recital are $10 general admission, $8 seniors & youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with valid ID.
