USU Historian Marc Landry Spotlighted by American Historical Association

Utah State University history professor Marc Landry was spotlighted on the blog of the American Historical Association (AHA) in July 2015.
Landry is a visiting assistant professor at USU with a specialization in environmental history. He was interviewed by the AHA about his training, research and teaching.
Landry recounts his first interest in history came from learning about the Second World War as both of his grandfathers and one of his grandmothers had been in the armed forces during the war.
“I remember reading every book my elementary school library had on the history of war, the world wars in particular,” Landry said.
Landry values the variety of intellectual challenges that come along with the history profession and said there are so many facets in the field to keep things interesting.
The American Historical Association has 14,000 members and is the premier disciplinary society in the field of history.
“We are so delighted to see our colleague’s work featured on the pages of our key professional organization,” said Daniel J. McInerney, professor and associate department head in USU’s Department of History.
Landry is currently working on turning his dissertation into a book-length manuscript that looks at the emergence of the Alps as one of Europe’s most important energy landscapes in the 19th and 20th centuries.
