USU's First Lady Debuts Women Helping Women Series
Utah State University’s First Lady Joyce Albrecht will kick off the Women Helping Women Series with The Giving Tea event on Thursday, June 15, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the President’s Home. The Giving Tea will be an annual event; all proceeds will benefit the USU scholarship fund for re-entry women.
The first lady plans to hold teas in all 29 of Utah’s counties. The teas will be hosted by Albrecht and members of the community to honor women who have made significant contributions to their communities. Proceeds from the teas will benefit women’s programs in the surrounding area.
“The Women Helping Women Series is a way for communities to show support for outstanding women who are making a difference and improving their lives and the lives of others,” said Albrecht “These events will help raise awareness while supporting re-entry women’s scholarships.
Janet L. Osborne, who recently retired after serving as director of the Utah State Women’s Center and Reentry Student Center will receive the Giving Heart Award. Bonnie Ogden, Debra Christofferson and Laura Pruitt are scholarship recipients and will speak at the event.
