USU Engineering Professor Named IEEE Distinguished Lecturer
Rose Hu has been selected as an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer for 2015 and 2016.
An associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Utah State University has been chosen as a distinguished lecturer to represent the world’s largest technology association.
Rose Hu was selected from a worldwide pool of candidates as an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or IEEE, Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer for 2015 and 2016. During the two-year commitment, Hu will be invited to participate in speaking tours around the world where she will address fellow engineers and engineering students about a variety of technical subjects.
Hu specializes in next-generation wireless network design and technology. In recent months she has secured funding from Intel and the National Science Foundation to further develop next-gen wireless networks and Smart Grid tools designed to improve everything from online video streaming to network sustainability and reliability. She has a large number of publications and patents in these areas.
IEEE is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology. The IEEE Communications Society is the premier international forum for the exchange of ideas on communications technologies and information networking.
Hu said she looks forward to her upcoming speaking engagements and opportunities to share research highlights and expertise with fellow engineers and engineering students.
“I will be able to share my research expertise in next-generation wireless network technologies with engineers and researchers worldwide, keeping members informed of the latest research developments in the field, and promoting my research group and outcomes,” she said.
Communicating technical ideas and new technology in the rapidly expanding field of wireless communication is nothing new for Hu. She serves as a technical and associate editor for multiple leading journals, including IEEE Wireless Communication magazine and IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
In June, Hu will present a half-day tutorial on 5G wireless networks at the International Conference on Communications in London — IEEE Communication Society’s flagship symposium.
