USU's Dining Services Honors November Employee of the Month
Niebergall receives the award from Alan Andersen.
Utah State University’s Dining Services honored Alex Niebergall as employee of the month for November. Niebergall, an employee at The Quadside Café, was first selected by his peers, then by QuadSide management and finally by Dining Services Executive Director Alan J. Andersen.
“Alex treats every customer as if they are the most important person,” said dining services. “They get his undivided attention regardless of how busy the café is. He takes time to get to know regulars and shows genuine care and concern for them.”
After learning one of the café’s regulars might be spending Thanksgiving alone, Niebergall invited him to join him and his wife for dinner. He also keeps magic tricks in his back pack so he can entertain little kids that come in.
Nominators said Niebergall cares about his co-workers and tries to promote a positive environment by pointing out others strengths. In 2014, he left personalized thank you notes for each employee before the Christmas break. He never complains about anything or anyone and covers for sick co-workers with little or no notice, volunteers to do the jobs no one else wants to do and constantly looks for ways he can help everyone more.
As November Dining Services’ Employee of the Month, Niebergall received a plaque and a $50 Aggie Express Gift Card.
