USU Counseling Center Holds Parenting & Marriage Skills Seminar

The REACH Peers of Utah State University’s Counseling Center have organized a free Parenting and Marriage Skills Seminar to be held Wednesday, Nov. 1.

A panel of experts has been assembled for the seminar. Members include David Bush (Ph.D., licensed psychologist and assistant director, USU Counseling Center), Thomas Lee (Ph.D., department head, Department of Family, Consumer and Human Development), Kaelin Olsen (M.S., faculty member, Department of Family, Consumer and Human Development) and Trina Spencer, (M.S., board certified behavior analyst, Department of Special Education).

 

After the panel presentation, the speakers will present several workshops on specific topics. Workshop sessions include “In-Charge Parenting Skills,” “Communication Skills for Couples,” “Promoting Positive Child Development” and “Managing Problem Behavior.”

 

The seminar will be held in the Stevenson West Ballroom (2nd floor) in the Taggart Student Center. Registration begins at 5:45 p.m. in the foyer in front of the West Ballroom. The seminar runs from 6-8 p.m.

 

Organizers say the seminar is intended for newlyweds, new parents and parents who want to improve their skills. It is open to USU students and the public. The seminar includes refreshments but childcare will not be provided. There is no charge for the seminar.
