USU's College of Business Week Packed With Events

The College of Business kicks off a week of events Monday, April 10, with an opening social at 9:15 a.m. on the business building patio. Ping pong balls marked with numbers corresponding to a prize will be dropped off the roof of the business building Tuesday at 11:50 a.m. for students to snag.

“Students have a chance to win an iPod, along with coupons and gift certificates to local businesses,” said business council Marketing Vice President Ashley Cottrell.

Wednesday, an alumni forum will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon on the ninth floor of the business building. Students will be able to ask questions and receive advice from USU graduates.

“We’re trying to get alumni from every major in the college of business,” said Cottrell. “Students can talk to them about possible career options.”

Also on Wednesday students join alumni for a golf scramble at 1 p.m. at Logan River Golf Course. Teams of four consisting of three business students and one alumnus will compete in the tournament. At 6:30 p.m. an informational meeting for undeclared majors about the College of Business will be held in room 211 of the business building.

Thursday students can purchase a slice of pizza and a drink for $1 at 11:15 a.m. on the business building patio. At 1:30 p.m. a seminar about marketing yourself to potential employers, co-sponsored by Career Services, will be held on the ninth floor of the business building.

Friday, students can learn valuable interviewing techniques at 11 a.m. and mock interviews will begin at 1 p.m. All students are welcome to participate.

Dylan Olsen, chairman of business week at USU, said that Business Week is a good opportunity for students in the College of Business to meet alumni and network and meet other business students.

“We try to organize activities that will bring people together and form relationships because those relationships can end up being a big part of how they progress in their career,” said Olsen.
