USU Appoints Raymond DeVito as Technology Commercialization Director

Raymond DeVito has been appointed director of the Utah State University Technology Commercialization Office. The Technology Commercialization Office assists USU faculty and staff with the technology transfer process and intellectual property regulations.

DeVito was previously the USU physical sciences commercialization director, and he also holds an appointment as adjunct professor of physics.
 
“USU is a leading research university that has much to offer society and the economies of Utah and the United States,” said DeVito. “Over the past several years, the Technology Commercialization Office has made significant advances in protecting USU’s intellectual property, bringing USU’s technology to market and contributing to Utah’s economic growth. I intend to continue our record of achievement and endeavor to improve our efforts. I am pleased to take this role and lead the process for commercialization of USU’s technology.”
 
DeVito came to USU after working as director of research for Siemens Medical Systems where he was responsible for new technology development and intellectual property management for the Nuclear Medicine Imaging Group. DeVito completed numerous new product developments and market introductions and established strategic collaborations with universities and other industrial partners.
 
“I have had a chance to work with Dr. DeVito for a year since I joined USU, and have come to rely on his thoughtful and knowledgeable approach to technical and business issues related to intellectual and business formation,” said Ned Weinshenker, USU vice president for strategic ventures and economic development. “I am delighted to be able to promote Ray to this critical position overseeing the TCO.” 
 
DeVito was also founder, CEO and president of Mosaic Imaging Technology, a company that developed advanced medical imaging instrumentation. He has served as director of detector technology and as a member of the board of directors for Constellation Technology Corporation, a government contractor developing advanced sensors for nuclear, chemical and biological applications.
 
DeVito earned a bachelor’s in physics from Rutgers University and a doctorate in physics from Michigan State University. He is a member of the American Physical Society, the Association of University Technology Managers, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. DeVito is a registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. He is author of numerous scientific and technical publications in the fields of nuclear medicine, nuclear physics and radiation detection.
