USU Alumni Association Awards Hall of Honor

A group of Utah State University alumni were honored at the Chapter President’s Conference hosted by the USU Alumni Association. The conference is held annually for all USU alumni chapter president’s from around the United States. Marsha Carter, Dawn Craner, Dave and Barbara Kragthorpe and Ross and Kay Peterson received the Hall of Honor award. The award is given annually, and recognizes USU alumni and friends for their devotion to the alumni association and the university.

Carter graduated with a degree in marketing from USU in 1996 and worked as the marketing director for the USU Alumni Relations Office for six years. While at USU, she was involved in many programs that contributed to the financial success of the alumni association. Carter grew up on cattle ranches in northern Wyoming and three of her four daughters are USU alumnae. Carter is an Old Main Sustaining Member and an Alumni Lifetime Sustaining Member.

 

Craner is a former Aggie Cheerleader and member of the Kappa Delta sorority who graduated from Utah State in 1967. Craner was Treasure Valley Alumni Chapter President in Idaho for seven years and established a USU alumni golf tournament in the area that has become a tradition. She received an Alumni Merit Citation from the Treasure Valley Chapter in February 2006. Craner and her husband, Gary, have hosted USU recruiters in their home and continue to help with the Treasure Valley chapter’s fundraising activities. Craner currently works at Boise State University as a communications professor. 

 

Dave and Barbara Kragthorpe are supporters of the Cache County Aggie Chapter in Logan and are lifetime sustaining members of the USU Alumni Association and members of the Old Main Society. After graduating from USU, Dave was a head coach at South Dakota State, Idaho State and Oregon State. In 1981, he led Idaho State to the NCAA Division I-AA Championship. In the 1980s he returned to USU and spent time as the athletics director and in 1994 joined the USU Alumni Relations staff where he retired in 2001. After retirement, Dave lent his expertise as a volunteer for USU Alumni Relations, overseeing many of the alumni chapters until retiring again in 2006. He has served as the special assistant to USU athletics director Randy Spetman for the past year. Barbara attended USU and spent many years as a high school counselor at Sky View High School in Cache Valley.
