USU Accepting Nominations for Distinguished Alumnus and Service Awards

Utah State University is now accepting nominations for the Distinguished Alumni and the Distinguished Service Awards for Founders Day March 8.

The awards are designed to honor individuals who have used their knowledge, initiative and individuality in service to the university, the public or their profession.

 

“This is a great opportunity for alumni and members of the community to nominate individuals who represent the values of Utah State University,” said Kimberly Larson, director of alumni events. “We are excited to receive the nominees as we decide this year’s award winners.”

 

The university is looking for nominees who have shown distinction in the fields of creative arts, public service and business or in another profession or scholarly work.

 

Nominees should not be current USU employees, elected officials of the state of Utah or members of the state legislature.

 

Nominees for the Distinguished Service Award do not have to be alumni of USU and can be retired faculty even if they are currently engaged in teaching or doing research for the university.

 

Former recipients of the awards include Merlin Olsen, David B. Haight, LaVell Edwards, Senator Lyle Hillyard, Boyd K. Packer, Miles Romney, L. Tom Perry, Phil Johnson and LaDell Andersen.

 

To submit a nomination, go to the Alumni Web site. Nominations must be submitted by Sept. 7.
