Use the Master Calendar

Use the Master Calendar

Regular readers of Utah State Today have perhaps noticed that an event is highlighted every week at the top, left of the page. Several readers have called asking to be included in this space.

How are items selected?

The answer to that is simple. These events are drawn from the university'sMaster Calendar. If an event is listed there, it has a chance of making it to the front page of Utah State Today. If an event is not there — well, no one knows about it. From art to athletics, from plays to play action, if an activity has been submitted to the calendar, you will know about it.

The calendar is found on the university's Web page (www.usu.edu) and as a link from this publication. Organizations, departments, colleges and programs can submit calendar items and use the calendar as a planning guide. For example, when planning an event, scan the calendar to see what has already been scheduled so that your event won't conflict (or compete) with an already-scheduled activity.

Adding material to the calendar is easy. From the university's home page, just click the calendar tab at the top of the page. To submit an item click the "add an event" button and follow the instructions. Submitted items will be reviewed for content and appropriateness before being posted.

So, go ahead, add your events to the calendar — it will help spread the word. Submit lectures, performances or special exhibits — whatever you think will be of interest to those on campus and beyond. Who knows, your event might be spotlighted in Utah State Today.
