U.S. Congressman Rob Bishop to Visit USU for Pizza and Politics

United States Congressman Rob Bishop (R-Utah) is hosted at Utah State University Tuesday, Oct. 15, for Pizza & Politics, the USU College Republicans’ signature speaker series.

Rep. Bishop has been invited to speak about issues relating to natural resources facing Utah, but will take questions from those in attendance on other issues.

The event is held at Widtsoe Hall, Room 007, at 6 p.m. Oct. 15, and doubles as the first in an ASUSU Government Relations Council series of educational lectures titled “Why Should I Care?” The ASUSU series is intended to increase political awareness among students.

“It’s always an honor to host a member of congress on campus,” said Nick Clason, executive vice president of the USU College Republicans. “For those students and community members interested in learning more about the political issues of the day, Pizza & Politics is an excellent setting.”

Pizza will be served on a first come, first served basis at the event, which is free and open to all interested students and community members.

“Regardless of whether you consider yourself a politically active person or not, being educated on the political issues of the day is very important, which is why we host our elected officials regularly,” said Clason.

The event is sponsored by the USU College Republicans, ASUSU Government Relations Council and the USU Institute of Government and Politics.
