Unlearning Racism with Lee Mun Wah

There’s a lot going on during Diversity Week at Utah State University, and a workshop, originally titled the “Stir-Fry Seminar,” kicks things off Monday, Nov. 12, in the Eccles Conference Center, room 205/207.

The presentation includes a workshop, “Unlearning Racism,” with Lee Mun Wah, director of the film The Color of Fear.

 

Sessions are held from 1-2:30 p.m. and 2:30-4 p.m. A question-and-answer session follows the workshops at 4 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. Attendance at the workshops is not required for participation at the question-and-answer session.

The Color of Fear is an internationally acclaimed film about eight men of various ethnicities engaging in an intimate and honest dialogue about race and the effects of racism on their lives and families. In 1995, Oprah Winfrey aired a one-hour special on Lee Mun Wah and The Color of Fear and its cast. That special was viewed by more than 15 million people around the world.

 

Wah is a nationally acclaimed lecturer and master diversity and communications trainer, community therapist, documentary filmmaker, special education educator, performing poet, Asian folkteller and author. He is director of StirFry Seminars & Consulting, which works with corporations, government agencies, educational institutions and social agencies to facilitiate diversity issues through healthy and authentic cross cultural relationships.
