University Extension Involved in Flood Assistance

Carolyn Washburn, Utah State University Extension family and consumer science agent, Washington County, is pictured with Senator Orin Hatch.

Washburn was invited to attend the special Flood and Disaster meeting held Saturday evening (January 15) to discuss the recent flood implications to the county and to southern Utah.

In the meeting, Sen. Hatch asked for input from each of the agency representatives and requested a commitment from FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers to help the residents and the community as a whole. The Washington County Extension conference room is being used as the crisis control center.
