Understanding Our Faults
Understanding the connection between weather and fault movement provides a potentially valuable tool for understanding earthquakes, says USU geologist Anthony Lowry. While researching slow slip phenomena in southern Mexico, Lowry found that events occurred at almost exactly the same time each year, suggesting the events might have something to do with changes in atmospheric pressure.
