UCC Bike Crew Kicks Off Summer Season at National Trails Day

The Utah State University-based Utah Conservation Corps bike crew starts its 2016 summer field season June 4 at a volunteer event for National Trails Day.
This summer the four-person crew will be based out of UCC's Logan office, and will ride to Ogden Valley to maintain the Skyline Trail in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Like last year, the crew will use only cargo bikes to transport themselves, tools, food and camping gear to and from their work site.
The National Trails Day volunteer event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4, in Providence Canyon (1600 Canyon Road, Providence, Utah). UCC and Cache County will host the volunteer event to maintain the recently constructed Providence Canyon trail. More details about the volunteer event can be found online.
Last year the nation’s first pedal-powered crew completed 2.22 miles of trail improvement at East Canyon and Deer Creek state parks in Utah while traveling more than 530 miles using only cargo bicycles. The crew received national awards from The Corps Network and the Coalition for Recreational Trails.
