Tuition Hearing Set for March 23
A public meeting to discuss Utah State University’s Tier II tuition proposal for the coming school year will be March 23 at 1 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Sunburst Lounge.
Utah State University President Stan L. Albrecht will outline a proposed tuition rate range and how the money will be spent. It will include a discussion on budget reductions, student initiatives, operating budgets and library support.
The tuition rate in Utah for state colleges and universities is set by both the legislature and the individual institutions. The rate set by the legislature is referred to as Tier 1 tuition. This portion of tuition funding is shared among all institutions of higher education. The portion of tuition that stays with each university and college is called Tier II. This rate is set by individual institutions.
While USU students and others have no direct input into the Tier I rate, they do have the opportunity to comment on the annual Tier II tuition proposal that is university specific. Albrecht invites all students and citizens to join him to discuss the proposal and to share ideas or concerns.
