Trees Need Slow Drip

As days get hotter, trees become vulnerable to leaf scorch, which results in brown leaf edges. Your first impulse may be to water more, but don't, says USU Extension horticulturist Jerry Goodspeed. Instead, dribble water slowly around trees for an extended time. This allows moisture to penetrate the soil and reach lower roots, rather than evaporating or running in the street.
