'Transformation of a Dream' at the USU Museum of Anthropology

Utah State University’s Museum of Anthropology’s Saturdays at the Museum program presents “Transformation of a Dream” May 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The event celebrates the museum’s history as well as its future and a planned move to the historic USU Art Barn.

 

“This museum has gone from a basement installation by a well-loved professor, into an exciting initiative to renovate the historic Art Barn, an icon on the campus at USU,” said museum curator Mary Kay Gabriel. “We are thrilled to be able to show the public where we came from and where we are going.”

 

The event includes tributes to past museum directors as well as the museum founders Gordon and Dolores Keller. Additionally, the exhibit will look back on the history of the USU Art Barn, including photos of future plans for the museum’s new home.

 

Activities include a PowerPoint presentation of photos, old and new, as well as a scavenger hunt for all ages.

 

USU students and members of the public are invited to the Saturday activity. Funding for Saturday events is provided by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. More information about the IMLS is available online.

 

The Museum of Anthropology can be found on the USU campus in the south turret of the historic Old Main building, Room 252. The Museum of Anthropology is a part of the Anthropology Program at USU. The museum is open six days a week, with regular hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
