Track and Field Resumes Outdoor Season with a Pair of Meets this Weekend

Utah State's [University] men and women’s track and field teams will resume competition Friday, March 27, at the Utah Valley Collegiate Invitational, as well as Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, at the University of Texas-hosted Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

“We are trying to continue to improve as a team,” said USU head coach Gregg Gensel. “We also want to improve on the great start we had from our first outdoor meet of the season.”

Events at the Texas Relays begin Friday at 4:20 p.m. (MT) with the women’s sprint medley relay and conclude the first day with the women’s distance medley relay at 6:40 p.m. (MT). Saturday kicks off at 9 a.m. (MT) with the women’s discus and the meet concludes at 3:05 p.m. (MT) with the men’s 4x400m relay.

Action at the Utah Valley Collegiate Invitational commences Friday at 8:30 a.m. (MT) with the men’s and women’s shot put. The meet closes at 4 p.m. (MT) with the men and women’s 4x400m races.

Utah State track and field showed great form in the first week of the season last weekend [March 21] at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Break Classic. Junior Maci Bingham led the way by winning both the shot put and discus, as well as a second-place finish in the hammer throw. Additionally, Bingham was named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week, while also being named the Mountain West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
