Toad Named For Nature Enthusiast

Utah State University herpetologist Eric O’Neill named a newly categorized species of toad, which lives in Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast rain forests, in memory of a former colleague. O’Neill christened the toad Bufo aucoinae (BOO’ foe uh COIN’ eye) after Lisa Louise Aucoin. Aucoin, who died in a traffic accident, was posthumously awarded a master’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2001.
