Tips To Improve Fuel Efficiency

Smart driving strategies can ease the blow of rising gasoline costs, says USU Extension specialist Richard Beard. Avoid abrupt starts and stops, which can increase fuel consumption up to 40 percent. Inflate your tires to the appropriate pressure and reduce any unnecessary weight in the vehicle. Remove exterior racks when not in use, as these alter the aerodynamics of your car. And follow regular maintenance guidelines recommended by the manufacturer.
