Those Little White Lies
Children sometimes lie because they fear the consequences of telling the truth, says Utah State University professor Tom Lee. He suggests empathy rather than anger. Tell your child, “This must be a scary situation for you if you feel you must lie about it.” Praise children for telling the truth and reassure them that you love them even when they make mistakes.
