The Women of Egypt at the USU Museum of Anthropology

Utah State University’s Museum of Anthropology “Saturdays at the Museum” series continues Saturday, Nov. 8, with a look at the women of Egypt.

A PowerPoint lecture puts the women of ancient Egypt in the spotlight. The PowerPoint begins at 11 a.m., and guests will learn about Egypt’s rulers, including Hatshepsut and Nefertiti, as well as everyday women of ancient Egypt. Modern women in Egypt will also be discussed, and how their roles have adapted and changed through time.

 

Activities include writing hieroglyphs on papyrus sheets and creating a bird necklace. USU students and members of the public are invited to the museum any time during the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday hours.

 

The next Saturday event is “Origins of Writing,” where guests will learn about the evolution of the written language.
