The Wireless Future is Here - Provide Your Input
Wireless isn't the wave of the future, it's the reality of computing today. Mobile users are on the go and demanding access whenever and wherever.
There are almost 150 wireless access points in and around Utah State University, and that’s just the beginning of a totally wireless environment. Now it's time to get input from students and faculty about their favorite computing spots.
Students or faculty interested in providing input can go to a Web site and fill out the online form. The University Wide Information Network committee developed the survey under the direction of USU Information Technology Vice President M.K. Jeppesen.
"Students are out there pushing the technology and requesting more access, and this is one way their voices can be heard," said Jeppesen. "We need their input as we move forward with this initiative."
The current wireless network has never reached capacity, according to Kim Marshall, director of USU Networking and Computing Services. But usage continues to increase, and is anticipated it will continue to increase, as students become aware of availability. It's not uncommon to see students sitting in hallways plugged into the power outlets and accessing the wireless network, or outside on the Quad enjoying a bit of sunshine while they read lecture notes on WebCT, said Marshall.
Current USU students may participate in the survey. Students will need to enter their current Webmail username. All responses will remain strictly confidential. Individual responses will not be identified.
