The Rise of Equality: Women from 1911-2011

Commemorating the rise of equality for women in the 20th century is the focus of the next Saturdays at the Museum event provided by the Museum of Anthropology at Utah State University. Activities take place Saturday, Oct. 22.

A documentary titled One Woman, One Vote, which discusses women’s suffrage and the 19th Amendment, will be shown at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Other activities throughout the day include a photo booth, voting booth and posters throughout the museum that highlight courageous women through history.

“I feel that the theme of this Saturday helps bring attention to the strength and examples of women who fight to have their voices heard,” said Cassie Largo, museum intern and a Saturdays series program planner. “This important subject can be easily forgotten in a time where most Americans have come a long way towards equality. I am excited to be a part of this event and am looking forward to telling visitors about the rise of equality.”

Community members, as well as Utah State students, can visit the museum during its operating hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Funding for the Saturday events is provided by a grant from the United States Institute of Museum and Library Services. More information about the IMLS is available online.

The USU Museum of Anthropology is on the USU campus in the south turret of the historic Old Main building, Room 252. Admission is free. For Saturday activities, free parking is available in the adjacent lot, south of the building.
