The Giving Tea Honors Cecelia Foxley
Utah State University First Lady Joyce Albrecht and USU alumnae MerLynn Pitcher hosted The Giving Tea, honoring fellow alumnae Cecelia Foxley with The Giving Heart Award.
The tea was held at the Oakridge Country Club in Farmington on Friday, Oct.20. Foxley was honored for her many lifetime achievements and contributions to the community, including her service as Utah’s Commissioner of Higher Education. Many of the more than 80 attendees knew Foxley through her affiliation with the Utah State chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority.
The proceeds from the tea supported the scholarship fund for reentry women administered by the USU Women’s Center and two previous scholarship recipients spoke at the tea.
The first speaker, Rosemary Christensen, is a freshmen majoring in business. A mother of four children, she returned to school following a 12 year gap in her education.
Eilyn Vavricka also spoke about her experiences. Vavricka, a mother of three, is a freshmen majoring in education. She returned to USU following a 15 year gap in her education.
First Lady Albrecht plans to host Giving Teas in all of Utah’s 29 counties.
