Taking Care of Trees

Tender bark on young trees is especially vulnerable to temperature extremes, said USU Extension Horticulture specialist Loralie Cox. To prevent winter injury wrap newly planted trees with white tree wrap or paint the trunk with white latex paint. Trees that are particularly vulnerable include maple, ash, crabapple, mountain ash and fruit trees.
