Tailgating with the President

President Stan Albrecht and First Lady Joyce Albrecht host a variety of guests at pre-game parties prior to home football games. Guests include friends of the university, political leaders, donors and community members. Each of the university’s seven colleges invite guests as well.

The year’s first event was held in conjunction with Ag Day, and the sponsor and co-host for the day was Convergys, a local call center located at the university’s Innovation Campus. Since coming to Logan, more than 8,000 USU students or spouses of students have worked for Convergys.

The homecoming pre-game party was held near the Meet the Challenge statue south of Romney Stadium. Those attending included Alumnus of the Year Lavell Edwards and his wife, Patty, and the Homecoming Parade Grand Marshall Rod Tueller and his wife, Valene. WAC Commissioner Karl Benson also attended. Sponsor for the party was Spindler Construction.

Spindler Construction Company has completed several major construction projects on campus. The firm was the general contractor for the beautiful new south entrance to Romney Stadium.

Those attending the pre-game party prior to the Boise State game included members of the USU Alumni Association Executive Board, Chapter presidents and other representatives. Alumni Hall of Honor inductees Dean and Joyce Adams, Swede Larson, John Lemperle and Paul Workman were on hand.

Representatives of Micron and several of USU’s Micron Scholars also attended. President Albrecht thanked USU alums Dave and Suzanne Moore, co-hosts with Micron for the event.

The Micron Technology Foundation is a leader in its support of Utah State University, especially the College of Engineering. Micron supports Engineering State, the Micron Digital Design Laboratory that opened in 2002 and the Micron Digital Imaging Laboratory that was dedicated Friday, Oct. 21. The Micron Scholars Program has awarded more than $100,000 to 35 of USU’s best and brightest engineering students.

The next pre-game reception will be held at the Stan Laub Training Center, and co-host for the event is the Cache Chamber of Commerce.
