Swing into Winter!
The USU Big Band Swing Club is dedicated to preserving the traditions of early and historic dance styles, according to club vice president Jill L. Sundberg.
“Our weekly meetings involve important lessons in Lindy Hop and Charleston, along with social dancing,” Sundberg said. “Our club is holding a workshop entitled Swing into Winter, to provide an intense introduction and advancement to our community’s dance abilities.”
The workshop is Saturday, Nov. 4, starting at 10 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. in USU’s HPER building. Following the workshop there is a dance at historic Elite Hall in Hyrum City. During the dance, the Big Band Swing Club hosts the finals to the “October Madness” competition that has been held during club meetings. Also included will be performances by the Big Band Swing teams.
The workshops will be held in a variety of rooms in the HPER building throughout the day, depending on class selection for specific hours. Classes will be held in rooms 102, 201 and 215.
