Sunrise Sessions: 'Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Connecting the Dots'

At Utah State University’s Sunrise Sessions, faculty and students share their research with alumni, community and business leaders from the Salt Lake area. Held quarterly in downtown Salt Lake City, these early-morning presentations detail how USU research is addressing pressing issues.

Featured in the Nov. 1 session are Cathy L. Hartman and Edwin R. Stafford, professors of marketing and co-directors of the Center for the Market Diffusion of Renewable Energy and Clean Technology in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at USU. The title of their presentation is “Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Connecting the Dots.”

The presentation begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Little America Hotel, 500 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City.

‘Sustainable entrepreneurship’ is an emerging strategy in 21st century business. Moving beyond traditional entrepreneurship, sustainable entrepreneurship leverages business skills to transform environmentally-protective innovations into economic and social gains for entrepreneurs and society.

Hartman and Stafford will discuss various business cases they’ve analyzed to illustrate insights about the sustainable entrepreneurship process. Particular focus will center on the trials and tribulations of the entrepreneurs behind the development of Utah’s first wind power project at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon in 2008.

Sunrise Sessions are sponsored by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah and are free and open to the public. A complimentary breakfast buffet is served.
