Students' Volunteer Service Gets Recognized
Eric Lindsey, founder and Executive Director of the Lifetime Learning Center and Fast Forward Charter High School in Logan, recently saluted President Kermit L. Hall, Denis Savello, Dolly Doty and Shannon Thurston as examples of outstanding volunteers at Utah State University.
As part of National Volunteer Week, Lindsey made a presentation before the Utah State University Board of Trustees May 2. He praised university students for donating 15,000 hours of time at a cash value of some $200,000.
"Of course, a price cannot be placed on encouraging an 82-year-old grandmother who wants to learn the Internet and email so she can keep in touch with her fast-paced children, grandchildren and great grandchildren," he said. "A price cannot be placed on helping a young single mother in acquiring critical skills to enable her to become employable and support her children."
He presented President Hall with a plaque honoring "the selfless efforts of many thousands of your students who give so generously of themselves to so very many great causes in this community."
