Students Redesign Well-Known USU Courtyard
Members of the public are invited to attend the final round of the Chase Fine Arts Center Courtyard Redesign Competition Monday, Jan. 13, at 4:15 p.m. in the Manon Caine Russell Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall.
The competition, which is co-sponsored by the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning and the Caine College of the Arts, asked students to propose new designs for the well-known and well-used courtyard. The winner of the competition will receive $1,750 and his or her design.
The first round of judging in November began with 34 submissions that were narrowed down to six finalists. The judging panel, which consists of professors, professional architects and department heads, judged submissions based on creativity, recognition of project goals and objectives, feasibility and sustainability.
During the winter break, the six finalists were able to apply comments and suggestions from the judges into their final presentations. The final designs are also posted on a window overlooking the courtyard on the first floor of the Chase Fine Arts Center for public viewing and will be presented Jan. 13.
