Student Alumni Association Receives Awards at District Conference

Utah State University Student Alumni Association received the 2006 Outstanding Organization of the Year and the 2006 Outstanding Newsletter awards at the Association of Student Advancement Programs District 7 Conference.

“Winning the two awards was a welcome surprise, because we went up against some great schools,” said Darby Cowles, SAA president.

 

The theme of the CASE/ASAP District 7 Conference was “Utterly the Best,” held March 2-5 at University of California Davis in Sacramento, Calif.

 

There are five states in district 7: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Twenty universities attended the conference, and each university had the opportunity to apply for the conference awards.

 

Cowles and the other five SAA executive council members who attended the conference were congratulated by many at the conference.

 

“A lot of people were impressed and said we have a great program,” she said.

 

Cowles said USU’s SAA program has three advantages - resources, the exemplary effort from students and caring advisors make the program successful.

 

“I love the SAA program at Utah State; it’s great to meet people and see how all the hard work pays off,” Cowles said. “It’s a great organization on campus that students can get involved with.”
