Skunks raise a mighty stink, says Terry Messmer, Utah State University Extension wildlife specialist. A diluted solution of vinegar or tomato juice will remove most of the smell from pets, people and clothing. If the mishap occurs while camping, hang clothing in the smoke of a juniper fire. Netroleum alpha, found at cleaning supply stores, will neutralize odors in walls, rooms and other areas sprayed by a skunk.
