Steam Line Work Affects Southwest Campus
A number of buildings on the southwest side of campus will be affected by a steam line shutdown that began Monday, May 23. Buildings affected include Old Main, Ray B. West, Family Life, the Haight Alumni Center, Public Relations and Marketing and the Gun Shed [a classroom and storage facility that no longer houses firearms but retains its name from 19th and early 20th century military training days on campus.]
During the shutdown there will be no heat or hot water in the buildings.
According to Facilities, the shutdown is needed to connect the new living learning center and parking project, currently under construction, to the steam line. According to a Facilities memo, an extensive amount of work needs to be completed to accomplish this, and the project will take most of the summer.
A temporary steam line is being designed that will provide steam to the buildings during part of the project. For more information, contact customer services at Facilities at 797-1947 or 797-3535.
