Stay Warm and Solvent

Lowering your thermostat setting daily for intervals of four or more hours will reduce heating costs, says Utah State University professor Richard Beard. Set your thermostat at 68 degrees F when you are home and awake and at 58 degrees F when you are away or asleep. Clean or replace your furnace filter regularly and open window coverings on sunny days.
