Spice on Ice — People's Choice, Dining

Utah State University’s own pastry chef, Steve Wright, won the People’s Choice Award on March 22 at a local cook-off fundraiser, Spice on Ice.
Wright’s entrée, which was called “Fig and Pig Beef Short Ribs,” out-tasted entrees from six other local chefs and restaurants at the competition.
The Dining Services culinary team, Shaw’s 88 kitchen team, University Catering and USU dietetic students all provided help at the fundraiser.
“It was awesome to see the Dining Services culinary team assembled together to support Steve,” said Alan Andersen, USU’s Dining Services executive director. “It was a great example of our mission to create an excellent college experience and to show the entire community what Dining Services at USU is all about.”
Wright works at USU’s The Bakery as a pastry chef, but Andersen said that doesn’t limit the range of his skills.
“Our campus pastry chef and baker can cook, too,” Andersen said.
Spice on Ice is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Eccles Ice Center. March 22 marked 13 years for the event.
