Special Collections and Archives to Close During Move

Utah State University's Special Collections and Archives division, along with other departments in University Libraries, is preparing to move to a new space in the Merrill-Cazier Library.

 

Due to the sensitive nature of its inventory, and to ensure the safety of the materials, Special Collections and Archives will be closed to the public Sept. 7-21 as the collection moves to the new building.

 

"The staff regrets any inconveniences this may cause, but feels it will allow the move to occur as quickly and efficiently as possible," said department head Brad Cole.

 

Cole said the new space from Special Collections and Archives will be first rate, and a significant upgrade.

 

"The new space will allow us, for the first time in years, to have all of the collections in on contiguous area," he said. "We are very excited to move into our new facility and look forward to helping our patrons after the 21^st of September."

 

The new Special Collections and Archives area, located on the lower level of the Merrill-Cazier Library, will offer better storage, a larger vault, cold storage for the photograph collections and a separate climate control system. The Hatch Memorial Library Room will also be in a more visible and accessible location.
