Seniors Can Thank Special People

Seniors can contribute to Utah State University and honor special people who helped them get through college, by having the individuals listed on the printed program to be handed out at commencement events May 6-7.

 

"This is a unique opportunity to thank spouses, parents, grandparents, professors or others who have made a difference along the way," said Nic Gordon, ASUSU vice president for Organizations and Traditions. "I personally am going to honor my mother, Karen Gordon."

           

Senior Gift Challenge participants can honor up to three individuals or couples, whose names will be listed in a special section of the commencement program. Seniors may participate by contributing $20.05 to Utah State University now. For an additional $5 they can also become sustaining members of the USU Alumni Association.

 

In addition, seniors have the option of pledging another $30 in 2006 and $50 in 2007 to Utah State University. By doing so, they can continue to be sustaining alumni members for another $5 in each of those two years.

 

Gifts will be applied by President Stan Albrecht where they are most needed, or seniors have the option of designating where their gifts are used — for such things as scholarships, classroom equipment, program support or library acquisitions. 

 

Seniors can participate in one of several ways: (1) contribute online, a secure site for credit card gifts; (2) mail $20.05 to: Senior Gift Challenge, 1421 Old Main Hill, Logan, UT 84322-1421; (3) deliver the gift in person to Old Main106; or (4) say yes when Aggie Connection callers reach them by phone.

 

"Tuition covers only 15 percent of the cost of our USU educations," said Katy Farley, student director of the program. "The state provides another 34 percent. The rest comes from alumni and friends of the university, as well as from grants, corporations and foundations. All of us have benefited from the generosity of others. This is a chance to help those we leave behind."
