Scribendi Creative Writing Contest Announces Last Call for Papers
The deadline for Utah State University’s annual creative writing contest is fast approaching. Submissions will be accepted in Ray B. West 201, the Department of English main office, until 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. Submission instructions are available on the department’s Web site.
“This creative writing competition presents an opportunity for all students at Utah State — not just English majors — to showcase their creative writing accomplishments,” said contest director Anne Shifrer. Shifrer also noted that in previous years, students representing all colleges at Utah State have submitted entries. “Students from the College of Natural Resources, for example, have submitted winning entries for several years running.”
There are three categories — Fiction, Non-fiction Essay and Poetry — and grad and undergrad submissions are judged separately. Winning selections will be published in Scribendi, the annual CWC publication, and winning authors will receive cash awards.
Winners will be notified by March 16. For more information, contact Shifrer by email.
