Scotty Stary is Dining Services' October Employee of the Month.
Each month Utah State University’s Dining Services focuses on one of its seven core values and selects an hourly employee who exemplifies the month’s core value. For October, Dining Services highlighted Passion — “We enjoy what we do and it shows. We have a personal vision of what we are accomplishing as an organization and love to make things happen.”
Junction employee Scotty Stary was named the October Employee of the Month. He was first selected by his peers, then by Junction management and finally by Dining Services Executive Director Alan J. Andersen.
“Scotty encourages everyone to work so next shift doesn’t get overloaded,” his nomination said. ”Scotty is a consistent example of ‘Passion’ at the Junction. He is conscientious about small details and always puts in extra effort to make The Junction a better place for the residents that eat here and the employees that work here. His specials are unique and delicious, and people are always excited to try whatever he cooks up next. Scotty is well known for his enthusiasm by employees and residents alike. His cheerful ‘Have a beautiful day’ is a familiar sound, and he begins each day with singing to encourage the tired students who are opening. He thinks ahead in order to prepare and helps others do the same. Scotty is helpful and generous with his time, always looking to help others and ensure that they have what they need. He stands out as the most passionate employee here, he enjoys what he does and it shows.”
As October Dining Services’ Employee of the Month, Stary received a plaque and a $50 Aggie Express Gift Card, presented by Andersen.
