Science Dean Finalist Mary S. Hubbard to Visit Campus

Mary S. Hubbard, finalist for the position of dean of Utah State University’s College of Science, visits campus Jan. 25-26. She will hold an open forum with students, faculty and staff Thursday, Jan. 25, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Merrill-Cazier Library auditorium, room 101.

Hubbard is a professor and head of the Department of Geology at Kansas State University. During her tenure at KSU, she has contributed to two target programs of excellence at the university – the Center for the Understanding of Origins and the African Studies Center. Her expertise lies in the field of structural geology and tectonics and she has completed field research in Senegal, New Zealand, France, Pakistan, Nepal, Norway and throughout the American West.

 

Hubbard earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Colorado and completed her doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

She is one of four finalists for the dean’s position. Candidate John S. Oldow visits campus Jan. 29-30. He holds an open forum Monday, Jan. 29, from 4-5:30 p.m. in room 101 of the Merrill-Cazier Library.
