SAVE THE DATE: Violist Roger Chase joins Fry Street Quartet Oct. 31

An internationally acclaimed musician and educator joins the Fry Street Quartet for a concert Friday, Oct. 31, at the Caine Performance Hall on the Utah State University Logan campus.

Renowned British violist Roger Chase joins the Fry Street Quartet at 7:30 p.m. in a concert that is presented by USU’s Department of Music and the Caine College of the Arts.

According to Fry Street Quartet violist Bradley Ottesen, the first half of the concert features virtuoso works for the viola, including a transcription of a Bach organ piece. For the second half of the concert, Chase will join the Fry Street Quartet in Mozart’s famous “String Quintet in C Major, K. 515.” 

Chase has been a member of many major ensembles, including the Nash Ensemble, the London Sinfonietta and the London Chamber Orchestra. He has been invited to play as principal viola with every major British orchestra and many others in North America and Europe. He has recorded for multiple labels and taught at the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School and the Royal Northern College of Music. He has also been a professor at Oberlin College and currently teaches at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

Tickets for the concert are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID.
