Ronda Menlove Elected American Council on Rural Special Education Chair

Ronda Menlove, assistant dean for Program Development Continuing Education, was elected chair of the American Council on Rural Special Education (ACRES). It is the only national organization devoted entirely to special education issues that affect rural America. Utah State hosts the ACRES Web sitewww.acres-sped.org and handles scholarships, awards and publication of the conference proceedings for the organization's 480 members.

"Rural areas have unique needs and challenges," Menlove said. "For instance, if you have an autistic child, it is much harder to find qualified teachers and services in rural towns. We are trying to help educators better serve rural America."
