Restoring the West Conference Sept. 12-13 at USU

Major landscape-level efforts are planned or are under way in the Intermountain West to restore aspen forests. Join with researchers, restoration managers, public and private land managers, landowners, and concerned citizens Sept. 12-13 at Utah State University for Restoring the West Conference 2006 – Aspen Restoration.

The conference opens Tuesday, Sept. 12, with a day of invited presentations on current work on aspen restoration in the Intermountain West. Continental breakfast is served at 8 a.m. in the Eccles Conference Center, followed by the opening session at 9 a.m. in the ECC auditorium. Sessions continue until 4:30 p.m. and are followed by a poster session and reception.

The conference resumes Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 8:30 a.m. with a day field trip highlighting current aspen restoration efforts in Logan Canyon.

Registration for the two-day conference begins Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 8 a.m. at the USU Eccles Conference Center. Conference cost is $100 for professionals and the public and $50 for students. Cost includes registration, materials, lunches, refreshments and the Sept. 13 field trip.

The Restoring the West Conference is organized and sponsored by USU’s Ecology Center, Department of Wildland Resources, College of Natural Resources and Cooperative Extension; USDA-Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station and USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry.
