Remembering USU Faculty Member Dennis Dolny
Dennis Gregory Dolny passed away surrounded by his family on Jan. 9, 2018.
Dennis Gregory Dolny, head of both the Utah State University Kinesiology and Health Science Department and the Nursing and Health Professions Department, passed away surrounded by his family on Jan. 9, 2018. He leaves behind a devoted family: his wife, Ellen, his children Meghan, Gregory, Meredith and Madeline, and a large extended family.
For 24 years, Dolny was a faculty member at the University of Idaho, where he directed the Human Performance Laboratory. In 2008, he accepted the department head position in the Kinesiology and Health Science Department in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education & Human Services at USU. Since 2016, Dolny had also been serving as head of the Nursing and Health Professions Department.
The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education & Human Services said Dolny’s fierce intelligence and kind heart guided hundreds of students towards their research and academic ambitions. His sense of humor made life a joy for all who knew him and that this remarkable man meant so much to his family, friends, students, colleagues and community; he will be deeply missed.
His family looks forward to seeing all those who can attend a celebration of his life Saturday, Jan. 27. This is the only event that will take place, and it is open to the public.
