Provost's Series on Instructional Excellence: Peer Evaluation of Teaching
The Provost’s Series on Instructional Excellence continues Tuesday, Nov. 12, with a presentation on peer evaluation and teaching, “Reflecting on Teaching Through Peer Review: Identifying and Assessing the Evidence.” The session runs 3:30-5 p.m. in Merrill Cazier Library, Room 154 on the Logan Campus. All interested faculty are invited.
The featured speaker for the day is Sylvia Read, associate professor and associate department head and director of graduate programs in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership in USU’s Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.
This is the third event of the 2013-14 series.
Like research, teaching is scholarly work that should be grounded in theory and research and evaluated by peers. In this presentation, Read will briefly discuss the research base for peer observation and evaluation. She will also offer advice on what kinds of evidence can be considered and present best practices for collecting and presenting evidence.
The presentation and discussion will be broadcast via IVC to USU Regional and USU Eastern campuses (locations are listed below). The event will be video recorded and placed on the Provost’s Series on Instructional Excellence website for on-demand viewing.
